Our daughter is a big fan of Taylor Swift. When she found out we were adding a blog to our site, she insisted we wrote an article of her favorite artist’s chai cookie recipe 🙂
Taylor Swift is a multi-talented musician, songwriter, and actress who has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. She has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, and has been hailed as one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine. But in addition to her music career, Taylor also has a passion for baking. In fact, few years ago, she shared her recipe for chai cookies on her social media accounts, and fans have been raving about them ever since.
Taylor’s chai cookies are the perfect treat for anyone who loves the warm and cozy flavors of chai tea. They’re soft, chewy, and filled with all the spices that make chai so delicious, including cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves. And the best part? They’re incredibly easy to make, even for novice bakers.
To start, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 and 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Mix the dry ingredients together until they’re well combined.
In a separate mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of unsalted butter, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add 2 tsp of pure vanilla extract and 2 tbsp of your favorite chai tea concentrate (Taylor recommends using Rishi Masala Chai Concentrate. Of course she is not or was not aware of Yogic Chai at the time of sharing her recipe, otherwise we have no doubt she would have used ours or make her own from scratch using our award winning Original Masala Chai and by following this simple recipe).
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix the dough, or your cookies may come out tough. Using a cookie scoop or a spoon, drop balls of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the centers are set.
Once your cookies are baked, let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. And if you’re feeling extra festive, you can dust them with a little powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for added flavor.
Taylor’s chai cookies have quickly become a fan favorite, and it’s not hard to see why. They’re the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and they’re sure to warm you up on a chilly day. But according to Taylor, her love of baking goes beyond just the delicious end result.
In a 2019 interview with Elle magazine, Taylor spoke about her love of baking and how it helps her to unwind and relax after a busy day.
“I love baking because it’s such a meditative activity,” she said. “I love the process of measuring out ingredients and following a recipe step by step. It’s such a calming thing for me, especially after a long day of being on stage or in the studio.”
And Taylor’s not alone in her love of baking. Many people turned to baking as a form of stress relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it provides a creative outlet and a way to take a break from the chaos of everyday life.
In fact, Taylor herself has shared some of her favorite baking recipes on social media over the past year, including recipes for cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. And fans have been quick to try out her recipes and share their own photos and reviews on social media.
